The cyclone uses pure geometry: dust-laden air enters tangentially, spins into a vortex, and centrifugal force throws particles to the wall where they slide into the dust outlet. No filter media, no moving parts — which makes cyclones the tough first stage of nearly every drying and grinding air circuit.

Working Principle and Design
Separation efficiency is decided by the cyclone's geometry and the inlet velocity: tighter bodies capture finer particles at the price of pressure drop. Designing a cyclone means balancing the cut size against fan energy — and matching the cone and dust outlet to the product so it discharges without bridging.
Cyclones tolerate high temperatures and abrasive dusts that would destroy filter bags, which is why they stand directly behind dryers and mills as the first stage, recovering the bulk of the product before a pulse-jet filter polishes the air.
